These hormones are carefully prepared for individual clients at FDA designated 503A compounding pharmacies and (unlike medications commonly prescribed as contraceptives e.g., norethindrone acetate, medroxyprogesterone, or to treat symptoms of menopause e.g., premarin or ethinyl estradiol) they do not contain synthetic or non-human animal substances known to increase the risk for certain cancers, blood clotting, and other potentially harmful side effects.
